Before You Arrive

Your ticket will be available as a QR code via email and OXEX. To make things easier on the day, tickets will be resent to all guests shortly before the Ball.

Please ensure you can access your ticket before joining the queue.

The deadline has now passed for name changes. If you have any concerns regarding this, a valid and urgent reason as to why you require a name change, or want to request a refund, please contact Michael at treasurer@magdalenball.com and he will assist you. 

If you or your guest’s preferred name differs from the one on your/their ID, please email Michael to ensure a smooth wristband collection on the night.

Arrival & Entry

Entrance to the Ball will be through the Late Gate by Longwall Library on High Street.

Queue opens: 5:30pm
Entry begins: 6:00pm
Last entry: 8:30pm

Please allow sufficient time to enter the Ball. Guests arriving after 8:30pm will not be admitted.

Water will be available in the queue should temperatures be high.

What You Need to Bring

All guests must present:

• A valid ticket (QR code)

• A physical form of photo ID proving they are over the age of 18

Accepted forms of ID include passports, driving licences, and other government-issued photo identification.

Please note that:

• University cards are not accepted as proof of age

• Photographs or photocopies of ID are not accepted

• The name on your ID must match the name on your ticket

Wristbands

Once your ticket has been scanned, you will be issued with a wristband.

Wristbands must remain attached and visible throughout the evening. Security staff may ask to see wristbands at any point during the event.

There is no re-entry to the Ball after entry.

Security & Bags

Security may conduct bag searches upon entry.

Reasonably sized bags are permitted; however, unnecessarily large bags, suitcases and luggage should not be brought to the Ball.

Guests Staying in College Accommodation

If you are staying in Magdalen College accommodation on the night of the Ball, you must bring your room key (and Late Gate key, where applicable) with you to the queue.

Keys will be collected by the Porters during entry and can be retrieved from the Porters' Lodge when leaving the Ball.

Opening Reception

Guests will be welcomed with a champagne reception and opening performance in Longwall Quad before the portal to Arcadia opens at 7:00pm.
